The Collection
Surls and Locke will be donating a massive amount of their personal work to comprise the core of the permanent collection. A selection of 50+ sculptures of various mediums and sizes will include dozens of pieces of monumental scale. An edition of the 40+ prints will represent each series they have ever produced. And a selection of 100+ drawings will represent each year of work since 1977.
Building upon the Permanent Collection
This collection, already valued in the tens of millions of dollars, will be augmented over time. It is the hope of Surls and Locke that the artworks bought during the last 50 years by collectors and friends will be donated or reacquired, which will add those people's respective history and prestige to the museum's collection.
